Hamilton Classic Scramble 1 - 15th August 2010

Scottish Classic Racing Motorcycle Club’s Hamilton Scramble

Glorious weather and a fast flowing track helped make this a thoroughly enjoyable meeting and it produced plenty of close and competitive racing. The star of the meeting was Aaron Dent from Kendal on his 250cc Honda Elsinore. Aaron took wins in the Pre75 up to 300cc Class beating the Bultacos’ of Derek Macauley and Graham Miller and the under 40’s where the very quick Lewis Bell was hampered by poor starts and his brother Liston was sidelined with a snapped chain.

Another quick young rider was Andy King whose lightening starts helped him to the pre70 unlimited win on Charlie Robertson’s 250cc AJS Stormer. The rider in second was Steve Dent who also finished third in the over 40’s behind Grant McClure and winner Billy Chisolm on his flying Husky. In the pre60’s Mike Bell on his Goldstar took a good win from the 1949 road based AJS of Richard Jones with another Goldstar in third ridden by big Ken Soutar who also won the over 60’s Class later in the day.

The most competitive class in the club is the Pre65 up to 350cc where there is a three way battle for the Club Championship between Graham Bell, Stewart Riddell and Ioin Munro and after three furious battles this was the finishing order at this the sixth round of the championship. On form Liston Bell ran away with the bigger pre65 Class on his 500cc Triumph Metisse and in the Twinshocks there were some good tussles between the four stroke Honda XR of Ian Robertson and the two stroke Yamaha of Graham Smith with Robertson just coming out on top. In third came Cumbrian Adam Wright on his ex. Walter Bickmore Maico. Robert Kennedy took the Pre75 over 300cc Class in fine style on his CCM with another CCM in second with Scott Gordon on board.

After the interval the meeting drew to a close with Jim Allison absolutely storming to victory in the over 50’s with his best ride of the season from Yorkshireman Mick Mosely. This meeting took place on a brilliant track which will be used again by the club in the opposite direction on September the 5th. Further details from Creena Bell on 01875 822195.
