Fife Classic Scramble - 27th April 2008

Round 2, Fife by Richard Winn.

This meeting will be remembered for the unexpected but gloriously hot weather, especially for April and for some very close racing in absolutely perfect conditions. The star of the show was undoubtedly Tommy Anderson who took three Class wins in the Pre 75 up to and Over 300cc Classes as well as the under 40’s. However he was pressed very hard by Grant McClure, Ian Robertson and Richie McFadden respectively on a day that produced some very exciting battles.

In the Twinshock Class, winner Paul Chiappa has four terrific tussles with Richard Charlton on his mighty CCM which each time stretched them well clear of the rest of the field and although very evenly matched it was Paul who just came out on top. Regular Pre 60 Class winner Colin Jackson on his beautiful BSA Gold Star was this time beaten into second place by his son Lee on a similar machine with Richard Jones third riding a 1949 road based AJS, one of the oldest machines currently racing. In the pre 65 over 350cc Class Colin beat Lee this time to take second place but both were eclipsed by the spectacular Peter Yeats.

One of Scotlands best ever scramblers Willie Wallace continued with his glorious comeback by walking away with the Pre 70 and Over 60’s Classes on his superb Faber BSA and a very stylish Stephen Cornall was too good for everybody in the over 50’s Class with a tigerish Graham Bell second and smooth riding Tony Hegarty in third.
