Whitekirk Classic Scramble - 4th October 2009

Sunny but cold weather and a fast wide track that was liked by everyone produced a very competitive meeting on which to end the season. BSA Goldstars took the first three places in the over Pre 60 Class with the winner being Chris Myers from Coniston in Cumbria, son of the late great Zeke Myers.

Kelso’s Graeme Bell on his 250cc BSA took the smaller Pre 65 Class from another BSA ridden by Eion Munro with the fabulous twin port CZ of Stuart Riddell in third. Faber BSA mounted Steve Dent was in fine form in the bigger Pre 65 Class, winning from Peterhead’s Peter Yates and Lewis Bell.

A rare outing from Colin Barrie and his BSA Metisse saw him tie for the win with 250cc AJS mounted Andy King in the Pre 70’s while the ever improving Ian Stainton took three terrific wins in the smaller Pre 75 Class. In second was a very stylish Aaron Dent with Ritchie McFadden in third.

Tommy Anderson took the bigger Pre 70 Class to add to his under 40’s win later in the day and in the Twinshocks Graham Miller took a great battling win on his recently acquired ex. Dave Fulton 250cc Husky after Ken Shuttleworth was taken ill and the very quick Maurice Wharton took several tumbles. In second was the beautiful CCM of Rob Waddington with the 414 Montesa of big Andy Malloch in third.

After the interval John Bethell just got the better of Phil Nelson after some great dices in the Over 60’s and Jim Alison and Mick Mosely chased Ken Soutar home on the Over 50’s. To round off the day and an excellent season overall Arbroath’s Derek Macauley on his flying Mark 7 Bultaco Pursang got a well deserved win from the fast gating Maico man from Dunoon Grant McClure in the riders Over 40 Class.
