January 2010 AGM NEWS A big thanks to everyone who attended the annual meeting on such a bad evening especially the guys who travelled long distances. The large attendance was very encouraging. Next season we have decided to increase our entry fee to £30 and continue with the Marshalling system as overall it appears to be working. Pre 77 Class Although the Pre 77 class was poorly supported in 2009 we have decided to run it for another season and reassess it at the 2010 AGM. If there are not sufficient Pre 77 riders in the class to gain club points they will then be incorporated in the twinshock class points. The Twinshock and Pre 77 riders felt that their bikes were not suitable for hand on helmet starts as this was damaging their gearboxes (it was felt that this was stopping riders entering our events) it was decided after a vote that they would now be allowed clutch starts. Club Championship After a discussion it was decided that the club championship would be fairer if a rider dropped their worst round. This would therefore would allow for i.e. mechanical problems, other commitments where a rider could not compete. Thornhill The track was discussed and is going to be altered for this years event. Eligibility There will no longer be a separate eligibility team. Eligibility issues will be dealt with by the scrambles committee. Any issues must be put in writing to the secretary and will be dealt with at the next months committee meeting. Hopefully this will resolve the ongoing issues of whispering and back biting at events and the plague of phone calls made to me regarding these issues. I would like to Thank John and Wullie for all their work over the years which at times has not been easy. Moto X de Nations 18th September 2010 - Italy We have had a fair response of riders for the above mentioned event but are still short of an Over 50 rider, if there is anyone out there who is interested please contact either myself or Bob Pearson 01620 843018. As team registration has to be completed by the end of January. 2010 Dates
October 2009 Eligibility Frequently this year there has been lots of eligibility grumblings behind the scenes. The secretary has had numerous phone calls regarding these issues. Just to clarify the correct procedure for addressing this issue is to write to the secretary and it will be discussed at the next committee meeting. No more phone calls please to the secretary regarding these matters. Motocross De Nations 2010 The Motocross des Nations will be in Italy next year. Bob Pearson is looking to put a Scottish team together, comprising of twelve riders. If you are interested and would like further information contact Bob on 01620 843018 or Creena. New Tracks Can I encourage anyone out there who may know of a piece of ground, please enquire and then come along to the AGM, new tracks are very scarce and are urgently needed. Thank you I would like to thank all my committee and helpers over the season your help is greatly appreciated. June 2009 Thornhill Entries Due to various postal strikes and general mayhem, I have just received mail for the first time in a week, and there's lots. I'll get through them as soon as possible, but if you have any concerns give me a quick phone call. Yours in sport Creena
April 2009 Attention please all riders If you breakdown, fall off or whatever PLEASE can you either restart your bike and continue IMMEDIATELY. Or remove yourself and bike from the track (if possible). Please do not FAFF about admiring the view! You are putting yourself and other riders at risk. Yours in sport Creena
March 2009 Castrol R I now have a stock of 'Castrol R' @ £28 a gallon
Pre 77 Eligibility Any machine manufactured between 1st January 1976 and Riding Plate White with Black numbers Pre 77 class will race with the Twinshock support Pre 77 bikes will not be allowed to take part in the age related races.
Pressure Washers The use of pressure washers is Strictly Prohibited at all events.

January 2009 This is the time of year when everyone's thoughts start to turn to the preparation for the new season ahead (some slower than others e.g. my husband!)
The AGM held in December was very well supported by the scramblers, which was much appreciated. There are a few changes for this year’s season which are as follows.
Marshalls (or the lack of!) This year we are going to introduce a system which has been used in the past, which is every rider must provide a marshall on a rota system when requested to do so (he will be notified in advance) No Marshall, No Ride and this will be enforced. We recon with the amount of riders we have this should only happen about once a year. We realise that this will not be popular with some of the riders, but after all it is not much to ask just once a year. The reason for this is to avoid the hassle of trying to find marshalls on the morning of the event and not to P*** Off the regular hardcore of marshalls who did most of the events last year. Please remember they do this for YOUR enjoyment.
While on my high horse, last year on several instances there were riders tearing around the track after the event while the track was being dismantled and coming into close contact with helpers THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED As these riders are acting irresponsibly as they have no insurance or First Aid cover and could jeopardize future use of the ground. This also applies in the paddock at break times (some have even been seen with no Helmets on) I don't like to be a moan but these things have to be addressed for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
Changes to One Event Licence There are changes to the method of issuing One Event Licences as per instructions from the SACU. In the past to take out a one day licence you came along signed a form and paid your money. These days are gone! A rider now has to complete a double sided page of A4 paper which inevitably this will take longer, I can appreciate that for insurance purposes a little more information is required. I hope to anticipate who will need these forms and will post them out before the event, so they can be returned on the morning of the event fully completed to save time signing on. We have been told the reason for the new change is to encourage riders to take out full licences and save event secretaries time at events??
On a lighter note we are going to introduce this season a class for Pre 77 bikes which will be incorporated in the Twinshock class, the details of which will be sorted out by the eligibility sub-committee in January. We are told there a lot of these bikes out there in sheds etc. At this year’s excellent dinner dance the premier winners were presented with an outstanding photograph, these pictures were provided by Andy and the framing donated by Callum Sangster a Big thank you for this unique momento. This season sees the retirement of our good friend and scribe Richard Winn, Richard has decided to hang up his handlebars after years of enjoyment but is still going to come along to the events to do his excellent reports and provide commentary.
Only Thirteen weeks to go and counting!!!!!
Yours in sport Creena

Contact Number I've finally given up with BT and am keeping my new allocated number, which is 01875 822 195.
Club Points If any rider thinks their points are not correct please contact me within one month of them going to print in the club magazine.
Entry Fees This time last year we were concerned about the estimated rising cost of First Aid cover for our events, fortunately for us they were not as high as first anticipated. We have also had healthy support at all our scrambles this year, in the light of this we have decided to reduce our entry fee back to £25.
Pre 70 Class At the AGM we were asked to clarify the clubs position on the use of Methanol fuel for Pre 70 machines. After a lengthy discussion and a unanimous vote, the optional use of Methanol fuel in Pre 70 machines will be permitted (the ruling previously was a little ambiguous). We hope this clears up any confusion.

Number Plates From the first scramble this season, all riders must have the correct coloured plates and numbers, this helps with the identification of riders and their classes. 2007 (Edited)
Regulation Change Due to a change in the regulations, all machines must be fitted with an engine cut-out button. The SCRMC will be enforcing this rule from the Dunoon scramble.
"Bad News" Unfortunatley due to an unexpected rise in the cost of first aid cover this season, we have had no choice but to increase the cost of an entry to £30 to cover this. (This is the first rise in entry fees in over five years)
New Scramblers Any new scramblers who have not yet been allocated a racing number please contact Creena over the next few weeks please.
Late Entries Despite 'again' introducing a closing date for our events last season, we are still having problems with people not entering before the closing date. It has been decided by the committee to introduce a late entry fee. Therefore any entries received after the closing date (which will be the Tuesday prior to the event) will have to pay an extra five pounds. This is being introduced because a lot of work goes on behind the scenes, i.e. track builders give up their valuable time to lay out tracks and also if I had to cancel the medical services, first aiders and the toilet at such short notice we would have to pay a cancellation fee. There were occasions last year when on the Tuesday we only had a handful of entries and gambled the rest would follow, 'luckily' that payed off? |
